September 10, 2026,
It is with great and profound sadness that we write to inform you of the tragic passing of Emma Klingaman, a recent graduate of our Harlem Public Schools.
Emma was an exceptional young woman and a shining example of character within our school and community. She was always polite and deeply respected by her peers and teachers alike, she was someone that younger students naturally looked up to. Her numerous positive qualities- including her kindness, dedication, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to knowing her.
Beyond her academic and personal achievements, Emma was an outstanding wrestler. As a senior this past year, her hard work and determination culminated in an impressive second-place finish at the state wrestling tournament, making our entire community immensely proud.
The loss of Emma will be deeply and severely felt by our school and our entire community. During this difficult time, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences go out to Emma's family and friends.
We know that this news will be difficult for many students, staff, and community members to process. Counselors and support staff will be available at Harlem High School for anyone who may need a safe space to talk, grieve, or seek support as we navigate this painful loss together.
Please keep Emma's family in our thoughts and honor her memory by supporting one another through this challenging time.
